I pick my puppy up in two weeks time. I thought the cross breed was supposed to have a lot less health problems than a pedigree. On reading up about them now I find lots of health issues especially the eyes. I did not know about PRA and I know now that neither of its parents have been tested. The male is a toy poodle 5 years old and the bitch a working cockerspaniel also 5 years old. Neither has any eye problems at present and both parents are fit, healthy and Kenenel Club registered. Should I be worried - I cant say I need to look for a different puppy now - and a what age would this effect a cockerpoo?? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

The following link has a list of issues to which cockapoos are prone, and links to articles about those specific issues: www.cockapoocrazy.com/2012/08/your-cockapoos-health-overview.htmlI wouldn't worry overly much. Cockapoos generally are healthy dogs. It sounds like the parents have a clean bill of health, so far as you can ascertain, and I am certain your dog will bring lots of loves. Study the articles on our site, and read the Cockapoo Owner's Handbook 2012. You'll know everything you need to knwo to watch out for and take care of any issues that may arise (and hopefully they won't).
