Reserved a cockapoo who will be 8 weeks old next week, around Aug 23rd. While we originally decided to get her home at 8 weeks, now feeling like we needed to plan this out a little better.
We will be out of town at least once every month for the next few months, so trying to figure out a good date to get her home. Breeder is okay crate training her but that starts at 10 weeks, and they can keep her for 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 or 8 weeks as needed.
1. Should we get her right now as kids have one last week of summer vacation? But commit to crate training ourselves, newbie here so freaking out about that part a bit.
2. We will be out of town Sep 21 to Sep 23, so is 12 weeks too early to leave her at a dog resort if we get her now? Or should we let breeder keep her till she is 12 weeks (2 weeks of crate training) and pick her up right after our September trip? Is two weeks for breeder enough to crate train her?
3. We might also be traveling Oct 10 to Oct 13 (pup will be around 14 weeks old), sp is it better to pick her after 4 weeks of crate training from breeder? Or is it okay to leave her at dog resort then, given that she would be coming home at 12 weeks, so leaving her within 2 weeks.
4. Future travel dates - Nov 7 to 10 (pup will be around 18 weeks old), and Dec 17 to 24th(pup will be around 20 weeks old). I'm guessing this age is good to leave her at pup resort, please let me know if Im thinking this through correctly.
Thanks for all your help and advice.
